Resident Evil 4 Remake Screenshot Shows New Merchant UI

Revealed during the Resident Evil Showcase, Merchant is returning in the Resident Evil 4 remake with a new UI and a new mechanic.

Resident Evil fans have been intrigued with the confirmation of Merchant’s return in the remake, and he has a new UI that details all of his actions in the game, including a new mechanic. A screenshot has been posted online, showing the entire UI of Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Merchant, which looks quite different from the original game. Merchant, despite not playing a major role in the original game’s story, became a fan-favourite, and it will certainly please many that he is indeed returning in the remake.

In the original Resident Evil 4, Merchant, who has never been disclosed by another name, is a friendly gonado who chooses to assist Leon Kennedy throughout his mission to save the president’s daughter, Ashley Graham. So far, it looks like the role of the merchant will be the same as in the original game, selling Leon weapons and accessories, and also upgrading his weapons. Merchant can also increase Leon’s inventory space by selling larger briefcase cases, which is also confirmed to happen in the Resident Evil 4 remake.

Merchant’s UI has been posted by the official Resident Evil Twitter account as screenshots. The amount of money and tradable items in Leon’s inventory is displayed in the upper-left corner. There are also options to buy, sell, and tune in, all of which date back to the original Resident Evil 4. A new feature will allow Leon to trade a specific currency, which appears similar to the pink gems in the screenshot, to be traded. For special items, such as other treasures, a red dot sight, and the Punisher handgun, which is also a return from the original game. While Resident Evil 4 Remake is confirmed to have some major changes, it appears that Merchant will be expanded instead.

The Merchant’s Shop functionality appears to be similar to the original game, only expanded in smaller parts, with a major change in the way the shop is presented to the player. It appears that Merchant is more interactive than the original game. Originally, the merchant was not present in the system’s UI when buying or selling items; There were only three gray areas to choose from whether to buy, sell or upgrade. In the remake, he is on-screen and has even more dialogue, similar to that of the Duke in Resident Evil Village, who acted similarly to Merchant in that game.

With Merchant confirmed to return with its iconic “Stranger” line, it’s clear that Capcom is focused not only on making a game like Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 3 Remake, but also on finding ways to bring back Used to be. All the characters in Resident Evil 4 are loyal but in modern ways.
